It is sometimes easiest to think of the Fading Suns MUSH
as a continuous story, a work fiction created by a all of the players. And your role is as
one of the characters in the story. In a sense, it is
work, because creating a good character takes some thought
and effort
on your part.
First of all, if you're not familiar with the Fading
Suns game, you'll want to closely read the files on the factions and the background
of the
game. The background created by Holistic Design is very rich
and full of details. The more you know as you create a character, the more you'll
enjoy playing that role in the MUSH. Most characters in the game are
known primarily by the faction they are associated with. Your faction helps
define
your social
and economic
station in the MUSH, but you are left with a great deal
of flexibity to play a variety of roles with in a faction.
Before actually entering Character Generation,
it is always best to have an idea of what kind of character you will create
and some sense of that
character's background. It also makes it easier to avoid
mistakes. You will be required to devise a background which will be
reviewed by staff before you begin playing. The details
you build into a background help the staff integrate
your character more fully into the plots and events that occur on
the MUSH. The following sections will help explain some
of the options you'll choose during Character Generation.
And as always, if you have questions, type +staff in the game and page a staff
member
for help.
